The Writer is the President of the United States

Our new President has an Op-ed piece in the Washington Post today. In it he says, "And now is the time to create the jobs that remake America for the 21st century by rebuilding aging roads, bridges and levees; designing a smart electrical grid; and connecting every corner of the country to the information superhighway."
(Emphasis mine.) The idea of bringing the 'information superhighway' to us bumpkins in rural areas is something I have been a big proponent of for a very long time. Despite our love for the rural Adirondack Lifestyle, my family and I were "early adopters" of information technology; you can't raise a rocket scientist relying solely on an abacus for ciphering, although that was one of his first birthday presents. My friend Bob used to call us "the Jetsons of the Adirondacks."
As a matter of fact, it hardly seems possible that I wrote a white paper on Teledevelopment in the Adirondack North Country a full 10 years ago. But it was indeed 10 years ago this month that I made the case that we could improve the Adirondack economy by capitalizing on available technology. The idea behind writing the paper was maybe the so-called economic development organizations who receive tax payer money to do something to develop the Adirondack economy would, um, actually do something to develop the Adirondack economy. Not.
It sounds like someone in our brave new world's administration read my paper. Or, maybe, someone there is also capable of critical thinking. Let's hope they are also capable of getting the job done.
