Peekaboo!

We had another "moose-human interaction" last Friday night. It turns out swimming is not the only way moose get around the Adirondacks. It is not even the main way, according to in house counsel. They tend to favor roads this time of year since the roads are like a huge salt lick from road salt runoff. Fortunately, no one was seriously hurt Friday night when three separate vehicles struck a moose on Route 3 near Vermontville. The moose wasn't as fortunate. According to the expert, the moose population in the Adirondacks is increasing. They are really neat creatures to see in the wild, but they are also big creatures. It can be extremely dangerous to hit a moose. "Recent research has shown that vehicle speed is the most common cause of hitting any animal on the road. You really can avoid an 'interaction' by slowing down, especially from dusk until dawn" (when it's dark). Between 1-2% of moose/vehicle interactions result in a motorist death, so it is worth mentioning. Today's moose is from Washington County, New York.
