Double New York Times Kudos!!

Wow - there is another excellent article in today's NY Times online about Whiteface and Lake Placid. In today's article called, New York's Overlooked Ski Resorts, the reporter discusses how New York's ski resorts have an undeserved bad rap, especially when some folks compare Vermont resorts to New York's, and think Vermont is the place to ski in the east. Hogwash I say. Real skiers are tired of that cowsey-wowsey schtick anyway. Reporting from the Village of Lake Placid, the Times' Mr. Pennington says, "As snow fell, dozens of skaters circled a 400-meter skating oval in the middle of the village. While a lot of winter resorts offer skating, how many let you skate on the oval that was the site for Eric Heiden’s five gold medals for speed skating in the 1980 Olympics? And, yes, that was a pack of dogs you saw pulling a sled earlier in the day." Once again, the Times does a great job reporting reality!

The New York Times Loves the Adirondacks Too!

Here's some excellent news - the New York Times featured Whiteface Mountain and the Adirondacks recently in their special Ski Guide Travel Section. They say, "Ten miles from Whiteface lies the village of Lake Placid, which the ski industry magazines often rate as the best ski town in the East. It’s an authentic village with plenty of restaurants, bistros, bars and bookshops. There are mom-and-pop stores, outlets, stores, hotels, motels and unusual boutiques. But Lake Placid is best known as host to two Winter Olympics, in 1932 and 1980, and there is an athletic energy pumping through the former Olympic village that invites participation."
I could not have said it better myself. Ok, maybe I have.
As many know, I love living in the Adirondacks and this blog is my little testament to the great lifestyle we enjoy. I can imagine there are those who stumble upon this blog and might consider me an Adirondack real estate-shilling blogging skier who raves about how cool it is to live in this Adirondack paradise just to sell real estate. Not. I have lived here for twenty years and just got into the business last summer, but I have always loved living here. I am now a real estate agent and business broker with Prudential Terry Horrocks Real Estate Agency in Lake Placid. We have some great listings throughout the Adirondacks and I would be happy to help you find your piece of paradise in the Adirondacks.
