Snowboard World Cup at Whiteface!

After a brief lull, action picks up again here in the Olympic Region when the VISA US Snowboarding Cup 2008 kicks off this Friday at Whiteface Mountain. Part of the NOKIA FIS Snowboard World Cup Tour, the event runs from Friday, February 29 through Monday, March 3. This is an incredible event, especially if you've never seen World Cup caliber snowboarding. There will be a huge celebration on Saturday night at the Speed Skating Oval in the Village of Lake Placid. The competitors will do a "Big Air/Wall Ride" Exhibition, there will be live music and fireworks and freebies. Sunday is the team competition, which is really neat to watch. If you have no plans for the coming weekend, you might want to check out the Snowboard World Cup festivities in Lake Placid and at Whiteface. It will undoubtedly be a good time - Adirondackers know how to throw a party, and when you put snowboarders in the mix, who knows how big it will be!
