Lake Placid Horse Shows - an Adirondack Tradition

The Lake Placid Horse Show Grounds are once again being transformed into a top-notch equestrian competition venue as I write. After 38 years, the Lake Placid Horse Show remains one of the premier equestrian events in the country. Scheduled to begin this Tuesday, June 24, 2008, the Lake Placid Horse Shows run through July 6, 2008. The Lake Placid Horse Show Grounds, located on State Route 73 at the entrance to the Village of Lake Placid, are a stunning sight. Whiteface Mountain, the Sentinel and McKenzie Mountain Ranges create an incredible back drop for the meticulously landscaped and maintained event grounds. On my way into the Village of Lake Placid today I noticed the colorful green and white striped tents being erected; my signal the horse show will be in town soon! The 'dualies' and tractor trailers are arriving, hauling their precious cargo to the barns. Competition this year should be particularly exciting as it is an Olympic Year and many Olympic competitors will participate as they prepare for the upcoming Olympic Summer Games in Beijing. if you are planning to visit the Adirondacks from June 24 through July 6, the Lake Placid Horse Show is worth a visit.
