Staying Alive in the Adirondacks

Like all good science, Darwin's theory is reproducible and indeed, proven every day, especially here in the Adirondacks. Case in point: over this past weekend, an all-terrain vehicle and two snowmobiles went through the ice on barely frozen lakes. Their riders got wet too. As usual, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) has issued their annual winter warning, "STAY OFF BARELY FROZEN LAKES!" I especially like the part where they suggest people should avoid going on ice near moving water.
