The Absolute Best Adirondack Product

Yesterday's post about the outstanding young people who grew up in the Adirondacks was missing someone important. He was missing because I try really hard not to brag. The truth, however, is my son Eddie is another one of those great Adirondack kids. Eddie is a contemporary and friend of the young people I mentioned yesterday. He ski raced with the nordic skiers until he was 14 when he decided he liked speed and running gates. He switched to Telemark Racing and became the youngest member ever of the U.S. Telemark Team when he was 17. The neat thing about all these kids is they had the chance to participate in a multitude of sports and outdoor activities. Moving their bodies and staying active was an important part of life. My son played many sports quite well, all the while excelling academically. It seemed he was a better student when he was "exercised out." Although he is now a hot-shot aerospace engineer with one of the country's leading technology companies, sport and fitness still play a major role in his life. As today's photo shows, he currently plies his athletic prowess as a member of the New Haven Warriors Rugby Team. I'm telling these stories because it proves the people wrong who say you can't get a good education in rural America. Children raised here can get a great education and enjoy the benefits of the healthy Adirondack lifestyle. And I'm telling this story because, after all this time of not bragging, I'm due.
