Adirondack Ski and Snow Report 01.10.11

A surprise snowstorm moved in last night and continues to drop lovely light and fluffy snow on the Lake Placid region. The 9 inches of fresh snow we received here at the headquarters near Mount Van Hoevenberg has turned borderline cross-country and backcountry ski conditions to excellent. Today's late afternoon cross-country ski was delightful. Because it has been snowing all day, there were plenty Ks worth of first tracks skiing available. The coming week looks very promising for a nice storm to hit the Adirondacks, so the great skiing will get even better.
Today's featured photo is Whiteface Mountain.
