Ice Storm Hits Ten Years Ago Today

Today marks ten years ago that we woke up to a destructive and massive ice storm that blanketed and paralyzed the region for weeks. We lost power for a few days, but were not as inconvenienced as some who went without for weeks. I remember waking up to the popping sound of trees and limbs breaking, and then the crash and tinkling sound of the ice as everything hit the ground. Trail clearing on the Jackrabbit ski trail went on for days. Here is a good overview of how the ice storm affected the Adirondack North Country. By the way, it is sunny and warm out today - temps are supposed to hit the upper 50s. Go figure.
